Show WORD OF PRAISE As we sit down to the table on a winter day and enjoy the pickles and the pears, cherries, jams and jellies that, have been preserved for us during the hot summer months by the many housewives, how many of us are apt to recall the day she stood over the hot stove in a stuffy kitchen! getting those foods "put up"? A summer job for winter pleasure, that usually goes on, year after year, with not much praise being handed out to the woman Who is looking after our future appetites. While some of us have sought the cool spots, the shade and the breeze, we could get a man-sized man-sized whiff of tomato catsup and bread and butter pickles, and figured how good this would taste later on. Wonder how many of us consider the drops of perspiration that accompany ac-company the drops of paraffin, and the steam that goes with the sauce and the syrup. Give a hand to the woman who cooked, While we cooled, and if seasoning is important to their canning so is appreciation to their endeavors. |
