Show AuxiliarySponsors Health Survey Mrs. D. H. Sullivan and Mrs. Leighty of the state child welfare wel-fare department met with members mem-bers of the Milford American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary Saturday afternoon and evening at the Atkin hotel to discuss with them the child health and welfare survey which is a state health program and to devise de-vise ways of carrying on the work in this district. The American Legion Auxiliary has been asked to sponsor this health program throughout the state and the plan when completed within the next two or three weeks is to be presented to the state legislature in hopes of getting legislation which will improve the health conditions in Utah. The state is sorely in need of such legislation as it ranks among the lowest as far as health and sanitary sani-tary conditions are concerned. In order to gain information necessary to fill out the various questionnaires which have been provided, a house to house canvas is being made. This survey requires re-quires a tremendous amount of work and time and in order for it I to give an accurate account of money spent for medical purposes ' and to show a true picture of the health conditions in Utah, the information in-formation you are asked to submit sub-mit must be unreserved. It is urged that each family of the community com-munity cooperate in a spirit of good citizenship with the interviewers inter-viewers so that a lasting good to the community will result from the survey. Although some of the questions may seen quite personal they are not asked for satisfying any personal curiosity and the information in-formation given will be kept strictly confidential and will be used only as is necessary to carry on the project. If, as a result, laws arc enacted which will to a greater extent safeguard the health of the individual, indi-vidual, if the burden can be alleviated al-leviated in homes where medical expense is out of proportion to the income, and if more hospitals may be provided where necessary throughout the state so that the sick can be cared for under suitable suit-able conditions and under proper supervision, then members of the American Legion Auxiliary will feel that they have not worked in vain. n |
