Show Big Increase In Planes Manufacturers in the United States produced 2,197 airplanes in , the first nine months of 1936, a 68 percent increase over the corresponding corre-sponding part of 1935, according to an announcement by the bureau of air commerce, department of . commerce. Of the airplanes produced during dur-ing this period 1,287 were for domestic do-mestic civil use. There were 573 for delivery to the military service, and 337 for export. . Among those for domestic civil . use, monoplanes led biplanes 1,117 to 170. Among airplanes of vari-' vari-' ous sizes the most numerous were . two-place closed landplane mono- planes, of which 744 were produced for civil use. In addition to the 2,197 airplanes, air-planes, American manufacturers in this nine-month period produced 23 gliders, one autogiro and 15 light-er-than-air crafts. |
