Show State Educators Guests Of Club C. H. Skidmore, state superintendent superin-tendent of public instruction; Warren Taylor, his assistant and state primary supervisor, with S. Melvin Wittwer, Beaver county superintendent, visiting Milford in connection with the annual inspection inspec-tion of Beaver county schools, were special g-uests of the Milford Lions club Wednesday noon at the weekly week-ly luncheon meeting. W. O. Cluff of Richfield, president of the Richfield Lions club, was also present as a guest, being in Milord Mil-ord in connection with his work as sales manager for the Tellu-ride Tellu-ride Power company. The meeting was another largely large-ly attended one and considerable business was attended to. Among other matters, there was appointed appoint-ed by Lion President La Mar Out-zen Out-zen a committee of Lions J. C. Smith, George Jefferson and Harold Har-old Cline to make a study of the proposed constitutional amendment amend-ment to exempt from taxation homes valued up to $2000 and the effects of such legislation, inasmuch in-asmuch as many of the municipalities municipal-ities in the state would find it impossible im-possible to functon with the enactment en-actment of a law allowing such an exemption. Superintendent Skidmore spoke briefly on the proposed homestead exemption amendment but stated that he was neither promoting nor discouraging it, but, inasmuch as it would take a legislative act to carry it into effect, he believed no legislative body would take such action without providing otherwise oth-erwise for necessary revenue. However, there is another proposed pro-posed amendment which he does favor, he said, and that is the proposal pro-posal to take the office of state superintendent out of politics, making this office an appointive one of the state board of education. educa-tion. Palmer of Caliente, suggesting a conference on road matters with a delegation from the Caliente chamber of commerce to meet with the Lions club at j an early date. On motion of Lion I J. R.
