Show With the Colois Contained in an envelope bearing bear-ing a May 8 navy postmark but with the date on the letter neatly removed by the censor, The NeVs this week received the following letter rom George Connell, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Connell, who is aboard the United States cruiser cruis-er Indianapolis, now in Pacific waters. It is evident, from the text of the letter, that some of the papers were old ones when he read them, and that the letter was written much earlier than the postmark indicates. The News would like very much to receive letters from any and all of the boys in the armed services. Not alone are they interesting to parents and friends, but also to the community at large and to other boys in the services especially. especi-ally. Mr. Council's letter follows: Dear Mr. Williams: It makes me very happy, after coming in from sea, to read all of the "Milford News" papers that had stacked up while I had been out to sea, and it makes me proud to show to the boys around the ship about our band going down to the train when the navy boys went through. And as for the basketball team they are doing very good. I sure wish them lots of luck. It makes me feel good to show my shipmates how our bas. kctball team is doing. I will close now, with my best wishes for the little City of Milford. Mil-ford. I remain, GEORGE CONNELL V |
