Tommie James also al-so went along as scorer. The "M" Men basketball league is reputed the largest in the world. Players in more than one hundred L. D. S. stakes, representing represent-ing more than a thousand wards, compete annually for posts in the all-church meet. The exact number num-ber of players tompeting in "M" men basketball is undetermined, but it must amount to a staggering stagger-ing total. Many wards have first, second and midget teams, and each squad numbers approximately ten players during the regular season and eight during the all-church tourney. The sixteen outstanding teams of this huge total gathered in the Deseret gym in Salt Lage last week and brought the season to a glorious glo-rious climax. Teams from Utah, Wyoming, Canada, Idaho and Arizona went into action for the coveted title. Two Utah quints Ogden Eighth and Logan Seventh reached the final and the Ogden team won the title. St. Johns of Arizona compiled com-piled the best record of the out-of-state teams, placing fourth in the tourney. |
