Show SITUATION ms seen at the . jees Union ftock IJardi Los Angeles Union Stock Yards, July 2 Los Angeles receipts of cattle the past week were slightly in excess of the previous week and corresponding' period a year ago but combined arrivals at 12 market mar-ket were 12,000 short of the same week a year ago. There also was a decrease of 12,400 calves at the same points. Values on practically all classes of cattle were well .maintained with the preceding week. For the most part trading was active, though some slowness crept into the deal in late rounds, after the major (buyers had filled their requirements. re-quirements. A fairly liberal quota of common and medium grade cows showed up in the run but there was a good assortment of most classes, including includ-ing a good many beef steers. A small lot of 1268-pound steers reached $17.25 for a top. Other good steers turned at $16 to $17 with medium to good grassers and short feds $15 to S16.10. A few common steers down to $12 and under. A load of good 875-pound heifers touched $15.i!0, with a small lot of choice heifers making : $16.25. Other medium to good grassy and short-fed heifers biought $13.50 to $15.40. A few good young cows and barren heifers of cow weight sold at $15. j Bulk of medium to good cows : moved at $11.50 to $14, a few loads $14.25 to $14.40. Common to medium grass cows largely $10 to $11.25; canners and cutters mainly $7.50 to $9.50. A few shelly canners $7 and under. Calves were active and firm, with the upper crust moving at $15.50 to $16.50. A few loads of feeders sold at $14.50 to $15. Some desirable desir-able feeding heifers $12.00 to $13.50. All classes of stockers and feeders remained in broad demand. There was no important change to note in the hog situation. Supplies Sup-plies continued of limited volume and prices remained firmly anchored anchor-ed at ceiling levels. Good butchers ! of all weights sold at $15.75 and sows and stags held at $15.
