Show Local Girl County Queen KATHLEEN FOTHERINGHAM Milford Candidate Wins Queen Honor Kathleen Fotheringham, Milford brunette and candidate of the Milford Mil-ford American Legion post and Auxiliary, has been spending the fore part of the week in Salt Lake City as Beaver county's representative represen-tative in the Seventh War Bond Queen contest. Following heated controversy between Milford and Beaver bond committee members and others, climaxed by a visit to the two towns last Friday by Frank JUar-tines JUar-tines of Richfield, war bond regional region-al representative for all southern Utah counties, Miss Fotheringham was "crowned" at a dance in the Arion hall Saturday evening and left Monday morning for Salt Lake City, there to join queen representatives represen-tatives from Utah's other counties and military districts in a contest for state honors. June Facer, representing Bush-nell Bush-nell hospital military district number num-ber 1, finally was adjudged state "queen" while Gayle Alice Baker of Cedar City, runner-up, received the honor of being named attendant. attend-ant. Both girls will be royally feted in Hollywood. Miss Fotheringham's "crown" was a beautiful arrangement of choice roses from George Frazier's rose garden, while corsages also had been prepared for other county candidates for queen honors. Louree Stevens of Greenville, runner-up candidate from Beaver, and Mary Jane Kesler Edwards, one of Milford's tllree candidates, wcVe present for the presentation. Shirley Mackerell, Beaver's winning win-ning candidate, and Arlene Moore Voorhees, runner-up candidate from Milford, were not present. The Milford Legion and Auxiliary Auxi-liary members are deeply appreciative appre-ciative of the fine support given Miss Fotheringham and wish to thank one and all. V |
