Show I $jjkjfes LOOKING BACKWARD ' cSVVJ -:$' Items of interest taken from the t -A'.'T'a ffi fcffiL FU? of tlie Milf"l News of Fifteen years ago. this weak Dewey Xielson, well known young man of Milford, had lost j 'his life in an automobile accident, j when he car in which he was rid-: ing tipped over the ledge of the ' highway in Beaver canyon, and; plunged below two hundred feet. j The accident occurred when Neil- j son and two companions, Warren Atkin and Ivan Rowley, were driv-, ing up to Puffers lake on a fishing trip when the accident occured. j It was said that a broken steering j gear on the car had caused the ac-! cident. The other two boys were I thrown clear of the car in its fall, j and escaped with slight injuries. The Lions Club committee reported re-ported that a profit of $100 was realized from a dance and some donations toward buying the Mil-ford Mil-ford band new uniforms. A very delightful reception and card party had been given by Mrs. Merrill Miller and the Misses Beniti and Helen James in honor of Mirs. Rolf Bellingmo, a former Milford resident who was visiting here. Wihist was enjoyed and a delicious two-course lunch was served. Those present were Mrs. Harry Yeager, Mrs. C. C. Sloan, Mrs. Ei-ma Gillies, Mrs. Geprgs Fernley, Mrs. Myron Lewis, Mrs. Vernon Johnson, Mrs. F. B. Robin" son, Misses Kendall and Lucile FVanke, Miss Gladys Gospill, Mrs. Charles Miller, Mrs. A. J. Atkin, Mrs. Walter Weber, Miss Kathryn Gordon, Mrs. C. R. Parish Par-ish and Mrs. Addison Bybee. Helen Ruth Ward, daughter of Mr: and Mrs. Harry Ward, was united in marriage June 15 to C. E. Leech of Long Beach, California. Califor-nia. The bride was a Milford girl, having spent practically all her life here, and the groom was known locally but was living in Long Beach, where he was employed em-ployed in the offices of a large express company. George Litchfield and Rue Nielsen Niel-sen had gone after the elusive trout in "the hills near Miners-ville." Sam Cline, who was chairman of the educational committee of the Lions club, had reported many new improvements about the school buildings and premises. A new Fairbanks-Morse pump had been installed and a power lawn mower had m been bought. The board of education had informed Mr. Cline that a new heavy plush curtain was being bought for the auditorium. A new business , had opened up in Milford, occupying the quarters between the Milford- hotel and the Clay Service station. The . place handled soft drinks, orange juice and root beer being the main stock. Mr. and Mrs. George Jefferson ihad moved ovjr to the Jack Kelly home while their home was being remodeled. |
