Show FORTY-NINER SHOW IS GREAT SUCCESS Greeted with fairly good weather for the first time in several years the Korty-Xiner show, staged annually annu-ally by the Milford post of llie American Amer-ican l egion, and this year advanced in dating with the thought of having Letter weather was a thorough success, suc-cess, considering conditions and it is thought that a nice little sum will he netted for improvement and maintenance main-tenance of the very fine park on the bench above town. The Legion and Auxiliary units have already accomplished accom-plished wonders in making this park a true beauty spot and the good work is sure to go on with the impetus the funds from the show will furnish. The days festivities began Friday noon with a band concert furnished by the Richfield Senior high school band just one of several band groups developed by Director Melvim Done during the time he has been in Richfield. Shortly after 1 o'clock the ball game between Milford and Beaver began to end with Milford on the short end of an S-l score. I Immediately following the ball-game ball-game the lineup for the big parade took place and, though not quite as pretentious as some in the past, it i was a most creditable affair and gave I evidence of much hard work on the J part of entrants and of Dr. C. R. Par-i rish, who had this feature in charge.! Most of the business houses and o.her! organizations were rtpresented, or.ej of the specially interest': fca-J tures being the mc'iing of sm.p of the tiniest kiddie; in school. The afternoon was devot?d a a An instructive machine gun exhibition exhi-bition was given in the afternoon and the evening was devoted to carnival fun and the regular big danca, both of which were typically successful. The men of the Beaver battery made a fine appearance and Milford appreciates their coming, but a special spe-cial word should be said for the wonderful won-derful response Richfield gave to the invitation to jcii us in this red-letter day for Mih'o.d. The Richfield battery bat-tery and its officers made a fine impression im-pression but the coming of the Richfield Rich-field band of 35 members was one of the biggest features of the day. It is a well-trained group and furnished any number of fine pieces, also doing do-ing some good marching. The one thing lacking was uniforms and this Jack is especially noticeable in an organization so wonderful otherwise. However, Director Done informs us that the matter of uniforms is now projected for early disposition and the band will then be even better and more of a credit to the Sevier county metropolis. The appreciation of the people of Richfield for the armory which our own Senator George Jefferson W8i instrumental in-strumental in getting for Jhem no doubt had much to do with the wholehearted whole-hearted response to Milford's invitation invi-tation especially when backed up by the energetic work of L. R. Fournier. formerly a Milford Legionnaire and always a booster for Beaver county. o |
