Show I Begin Planting of 385 Acres of Peas Planting of 385 acres of peas for the pod pea market this fall began Tuesday in the pumping district south of town with a view to maturing matur-ing the entire crop by September 15. j The planting is being done under tne' direction of B. Rigby Young, field I farmer for the San Diego Fruit and , Produce company, with which con-j cern Mr. Young has been associated for several years. A considerable' part of this acreage will be planted; as a direct compny project, several ; tracts of land having been leased by! Mr. Young and by the company withj this end in view. i While two or three different varieties of peas were planted last, ! year, this years planting will be con-I con-I fined to the one variety which last i years experiments proved most adapted to this section. Where there! were some 22 carloads of peas shipped from Milford by this com-i pany last year, it is expected that this years crop will amount to 60 to I i 75 carloads. The San Diego people this year I are trying out some sections in! the vicinity of Parowan and Cedarl City, but both there and here plant-1 ing is limited to districts irrigated i by pumping water as the only de-j Spendable source of late irrigation I water.
