Show Scouters Meet For District Meeting A Beaver county district Boy Scout camporee will be held near the ; mouth of Beaver canyon June 8-9, at ! which time there will be selected the representative camping patrol from within the district for competition at I the regional camporee at Navajo lake ; June 18-23. Prior to that time the , organized troops within Beaver county will conduct elimination camping contests to decide the troop entry. Plans for the district camporee and instructions from Scout Executive Execu-tive A. A. Anderson of the Timpa-nogos Timpa-nogos council featured the reg-ular district meeting held Monday evening eve-ning at Beaver at which time district j committee members and troop com-I com-I mittemen from Milford, Minersville and the two Beaver L. D. S. wards ! were royally entertained by Beaver Scouters who had prepared a wonderful wonder-ful fried chicken and ice cream feed for the 26 Scouters present. The chickens had been cooked to an epi-j epi-j curean's taste in bake ovens under the direction of Bishop Wesley Far-rer, Far-rer, camping chairman for the district, dis-trict, and the scene of the gathering near the mouth of Beaver canyon, was provided by District Chairman Robert D. White, who had arranged for plenty of wood and logs for seats surrounding the campfire. Needless to say, every Scouter present thoroughly thor-oughly enjoyed the meeting and the wonderful repast provided. Executive Anderson, in his talk, pointed out that twenty years ago it would have been out of the question to get such a group of men together in the interest of boys. It would not have been unusual to find such a group in attendance at a canal or ; stockmen's meeting but not in behalf of what should be our most important import-ant interests the citizens of only a few years hence. The eyes and brains of the world are now being focused on the boys and girls of today, to-day, he said, and much good is sure to result. |
