Show FARM NEWS NOTES j BY LEW MAR PRICE County Agent J Manderfield Farmers Develope Water On Monday, May 7, seventeen Manderfield farmers with teams, plows, shovels, and any other equipment equip-ment needed went up Indian creek for the purpose of developing water, stopping seeps, and any other type of work that would put more water into their stream for the irrigation of their crops. The Indian creek stream had been so small that it was doubtful if even those farms with primary rights would be able to get watered over once this year; and without one irrigation ir-rigation the result would have been a complete crop failure. One complete com-plete irrigation on most of the land will insure a first crop of alfalfa as far as moisture is concerned. Before the group started the work of developing the water, pegs were driven into the ground to the water level. After the work was done various vari-ous estimates placed the increased flow of the creek from one half to one and one half second feet. We are advised that an actual measurement at the weir after time had elapsed for the stream to reach a normal with the developed water, the increase in-crease was shown to be one and a half second feet. Manderfield farmers are enthusiastic enthusi-astic over the results of their cooperative co-operative effort, and feel that another two days work at other points in the canyon may be almost as beneficial. Water Conservation Meeting On Saturday, May 19, Professor George Dewey Clyde, irrigation engineer, will be in Beaver in accordance accord-ance with the plan of the Governor to work on drouth relief and water conservation. Mr. Clyde will hold a meeting in the library in Beaver at 2:00 p. m. This meeting should be of interest to all farmers in the county since his work will be a discussion dis-cussion on the most efficient use of water in irrigation methods. He is scheduled for two counties each day so will not be able to make any in-vestigutions in-vestigutions in regard to 'vhe development develop-ment of water other than expressing his opinion as to its possibilities from what information he now has or what can be brought to the meeting. meet-ing.
