Show NEW YORKERS LAND AT LOCAL AIRPORT A pleasure party of New York people piloted by George Haldeman, famous as the man who piloted Ruth Elder on her trans-Atlantic flight, landed here in a cabin monoplane to refuel Monday evening. The party was made up of Floyd B. Odium, owner of the plane, Mrs. Oldum and theiij 'soi Stanly, Ms. Mary Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Scandrette Jr. Oldum is vice president of the Electra Bond and Share Company and president of the Atlas Utilities Corporation of New York. Oldum's plane, the latest type of Belcanca Monoplane is capable of carrying eleven passengers or a load of 5000 pounds. It has a high speed of 140 miles an hour and a erasing speed of 100 to 120. The party was returning from a trip to the Southren Utah parks when it landed here for gas. It then continued on to Salt Lake. From there Mr. and Mrs. Scandrette will leave for Cleaveland to attend the air carnival car-nival while the Oldums will go to Logan where they have their summer home. |
