Show MEETING RESETS IN PLANS FOR FORMING DAIRY ASSOCIATION The first steps toward forming a dairy association for this section were taken Sunday afternoon when a number num-ber of representative farmers of the Milford project, the county agent and several members of the Milford Lions club met at the community club house on the flat to discuss the formation of such an association. The advantages- of organization in the dairy industry were stressed by county agent and others. The purpose of the association is to foster a cow testing unit, to engage in group buying buy-ing and selling, and other organized methods that will prove of mutual benefit to every member who joins. From the sentiment expressed at the meeting Sunday, there is no doubt but what a strong organization of Minersville and Milford farmers will be formed. A suitable name for the association was discussed and suggestions sugges-tions made to call it The Escalante Valley Dairy Association or The West Beaver County Dairy Association. This will be decided at the next meeting. meet-ing. In order to facilitate matters and get the organization under way, a committee was selected to appoint eight blank offices, three from Minersville, Min-ersville, three from the Milford Project Pro-ject and three from the Milford Lions club. This group will meet at the club house on Monday, Dec. 1, at 1:30 p. m., at which time every farmer in west Beaver county is urged to 'be present. Officers will be elected and a constitution adopted. With the rapid growth the dairy industry in-dustry is making in the Minersville and Milford sections, it is an opportune oppor-tune time for the farmers to organize and put their industry on a business basis. Every farmer and dairyman, no matter how large or how small his dairy herd at the present time, should become a member of the association. The Valley Creamery, recently established es-tablished in Milford, reports a gradual grad-ual increase in business, notwithstanding notwith-standing the fact that the valley has been in the thros of an early winter, which naturally runs down the milk production. With a modern creamery ready to handle an unlimited amount of cream, the farmers should take every advantage to improve their conditions con-ditions by increasing production in the most economic manner. A dairy association is the best means of accomplishing ac-complishing this end. Be at the meeting meet-ing next Monday afternoon, and assist as-sist in the organization of this project. pro-ject. o |
