Show o TRAVELER BURNED BY ELECTRIC WIRES William Lugsch of Oasis, Utah, estimated es-timated to be about sixty years old, was seriosly burned about noon Saturday Sat-urday when he lost control of his car, crashed into an electric light pole, and the live wires fell onto him. The accident occurred about 100 yards west of the Y service station operated by Joe Simmons, at the intersection in-tersection of U. S. 91 and the Zion Park highway. Lugsch was driving a small truck and had stopped at the station for water and to inquire about the roads to Las Vegas. He told Simmons Sim-mons and Matt Kearns of Colorado Springs, that he was en route to Santa San-ta Anna, California, and offered Kearns a ride, which he refused. As Lugsch was leaving the station he apparently lost control of his car, turned it off the highway, and ran into in-to a power pole, breaking it off and dropping the wires onto the vehicle. The men at the station heard the crash and ran to investigate. They found the car in the midst of live wires, fire flying in all directions, and the old man lying in the machine apparently dead. Kearns guarded the highway and directed traffic away from the danger while Simmons ran to Anderson's ranch and called Sheriff William Brooks, and asked the Dixie Power company to disconnect the current. Dr. E. Clark Mclntyre was called for first aid instructions. Lugsch was removed re-moved from the car and restored to consciousness, but was unable to give a comprehensive account of the cause of the accident. He was brought to the Washington county hospital, and is reported to be in a very serious condition. Washington Co. News. |
