Show NEW FOSSIL BEDS ATTRACTING SCIENCE C. H. Bigelow, a leading factor in the organization of the Associated Civic clubs of Southern Utah, and secretary of the Arrowhead Trail for the past fourteen years, is confident that Southern Utah, with its scenic attractions and its possibilities of unearthing un-earthing prehistoric relics, its advancement ad-vancement in industries, will soon be widespread and will draw further on the tourist travel, and incidentally attract at-tract further investigaions by men of science. Mr. Bigelow was a visitor here last Thursday, stopping over for a brief visit with The News writer. Mr. Bigelow is highly enthusiastic over recent discoveries of fossil beds at Castledale. Preliminary surveys at the heds indicate the presence of fossils which may, with further exploration, ex-ploration, reveal the presence of pre-'historic pre-'historic animals. Thus far shells and fish skeletons, in the petrified form, have been found. Mr. Bigelow was carrying several samples of the fossils fos-sils found and on his arrival at Los Angeles the samples will be turned over to scientific men for further study. Those who will make inspections inspec-tions of the recent finds will be Dr. Geo. B. Clements, in charge of agriculture agri-culture for the Los Angeles chamber of commerce; Dr. Comstock, with the Exposition Museum and Park at Los Angeles . Dr. Harrington, in charge of the Southwest Museum at Los Angeles An-geles and recently known in the exploration ex-ploration of the gypsum caves near Las Vegas, will also make a study of the finds at Castledale. Dr. Harrington, in the venture of the exploration at the Las Vegas caves, cav-es, found droppings of the ground sloth, implements and piles of charcoal char-coal used and created some 20,000 years ago.
