Show WORK ON CUTOFF CUT-OFF TO PANGUITCH DRIVES AHEAD Thos. Sevy, of Panguitch, Met with the Lions Club and Explained the Advantages the New Highway will Give Milford. Speaking optimistically of the cutoff cut-off road from Highway "91" over the hill to Panguitch, and mentioning some of the benefits which he believed believ-ed the road would bring to Milford, Thos. Sevy of Panguitch, appeared before the Milford Lions Club Wednesday Wed-nesday to speak in behalf of the road. Mr. Sevy was a very earnest speaker and enthused his audience very much. The distance from Beaver to Panguitch Pan-guitch via the new link is 45 miles, he said. The work being done on the route by subscription money would have been all completed by Monday this week, had not the stormy weather weath-er interfered, he said. Even so, he stated the road was passable. When the work is done, he asked that the local Lions Club erect a sign at the terminal of the cut-off, stating that it was the shortest route to Panguitch Pan-guitch and Bryce's Canyon. The Panguitch club would reciprocate, he said, by placing a sign at the east end, stating that the road was the shortest route to Beaver, Milford and Ely. Later, attempts to interest the Forestry Department should be made, he said. Sam Cline also spoke about the road, stating that legislators from Garfield and Beaver counties should be pledged to work in getting the link put in the state highway system. J. R. Murdock and M. H. Pool spoke of the advantage of interesting interest-ing Ely road boosters in the western development of the road running from Milford to Ely. Gene Kirk was named committeeman committee-man to meet with local Ameriran Legion Le-gion men in the promotion of a junior jun-ior baseball team. Letters were read by Secretary Harold Cline, stressing again the need of a large representation at the Lions Distrirt Convention, to be held at American Fork on the 28th of this month. |
