Show UNSELFISH ENTERPRIZE The Forty-Niners celebration to be staged here May 8 by the American Legion deserves to be a tremendous success not only because be-cause it is the biggest "blowout" of the year but because it is put on for purely unselfish motives, to raise money for the improvement improve-ment and maintenance of a public park in Milford. Three years ago the Legion sponsored the first forty-niners celebration here and used the entire proceeds to buy Umd for a city park and deeded that land to the city. From the start, the park tyas been city property; the Legion is only its custodian. The second celebration, held last year raised enough funds to buy seed and shrubs and pay for their planting. This year the legion members hope to realize enough from their forty-niners celebration to buy additional shrubs, pay for the building of gravel walks in the park and create a fund for the salary sal-ary of the oare. taker that is needed to keep the lawn and shrubs in condition. Whatever Milford people spend at the forty-niners celebration will not orjy give them their money's worth in enjoyment but will come back to them in the form of improvements in their own city park.
