Show M1NERSV1LLE GIRL GETS STAGE HONORS Elaine Stoddard Winner of the Armistice Day Oratory Contest. BEAVER WINS GAME Miss Elaine Stoddardr of Miners-ville, Miners-ville, was the winner of the oratorical contest sponsored on Armistice Day by the Women's Auxiliary to the American Legion. Four contestants were in the contest, two girls representing- Milford High School, and u boy and a girl from Minersville. Miss Stoddard's selection was "The Road of American Ideals"', and was given in a pleasing manner. Each of the other speakers were also good. Judges for the contest were County Superintendent, Superinten-dent, J. C. Carlisle, County Agent Lew Marr Price and Mr. Martindale, of Ogden. Mrs. Lila Weber presented the prize, a silver medal, to Miss Stoddard. The program of the day consisted -" of activities beginning at ten o'clock and closing late at night with a dance. The following is the morning program: pro-gram: Band numbers by High School Band at Hubbell's corner. March to High School, Band and Legion Color guard. iProgram at High School, Leonard Bowen presiding. Band Selection. Remarks on the day, Principal M. J. Andrews. Vocal Solo, Mrs. Marie King. , " Declamatory Contest. " - Music, High School quartette. Decision of Judges. Awarding of medal. Announcements, Leonard Bowen. Beaver Triumphs In the afternoon, interest of the day switched from here to Beaver, wher" the Milford and Beaver High Schools played a football game, which Beaver Beav-er won, 14 to 6. Many carloads of Milford people drove over to see the game. The day's program was wound up with a public dance sponsored by the American Legion. The evening afair was well patronized and lasted until one o'clock. |
