Show I A REAL CHAMPION The football team of the University Uni-versity of Utah is now on the threshold of being acclaimed champions of the Rocky Mountain Moun-tain Conference. Should it go through the remaining two I games with victories, it will be the second successive champion-, champion-, ship for our state institution, . and the third in four years. The universities and state colleges of our neighboring states have been defeated in decisive fash- ion. Best of all, the report on the commercialising of intercollegiate intercolle-giate athletics and the subsidizing subsidiz-ing of athletes, issued by the Camiegie Foundation for the Advancement of- Education, made no specific mention of harmful practices by the University Uni-versity of Utah. In fact, the entire Rocky Mountain area was given the cleanest bill of health of any section of the country. More power to the heads of , the athletic department of our university, if football championships champion-ships can be won by young men to come to the university primarily pri-marily for an academic education. |
