Show Swedish Relics Extend Far Back Into History Swedish prehistoric relics are the richest in the world, and this is because be-cause the smne race has inhabited the coumr.v fur about in.000 years, says 1'rofessor Curman, state antiquarian. The scientific museums of Sweden contain more than half a million treasures treas-ures of antiquity. The structure of the landscapes, with patches of fertile soil lying among barren areas, thick forests or craggy hills, has also helped to preserve these materials of ancient djys. These natural obstacles have kept farmers from encroaching upon the sites where prehistoric tombs, fortifications and Viking rune stones have been hidden. Moreover, the Swedish government realized 300 years ago the importance of preserving preserv-ing relics of antiquity and enacted laws to that end. |
