Christian Science "Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon, Lesson-Sermon, Sunday, April 12, in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, branches branch-es of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Golden Text: Deuteronomy 7:15. The Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee. The citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon include the following from the Bible: "And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he (Jesus) (Je-sus) entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. And looking look-ing round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other" (St. Luke 6:6, 10). The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following correlative passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "God has set His signet upon Science, making it coordinate with all that is real and only with that which is harmonious har-monious and eternal. Sickness, sin, and death, being inharmonious, do not originate in God nor belong to His government. His law, rightly understood, under-stood, destroys them. Jesus furnished furnish-ed proofs of these statements" (Page 472). |
