Show POSTAL DEPARTMENT GIVES NEW RATES POSTAGE RATES ARE GENERALLY LOWERED Several changes in postal rates, which are effective July 1, have been announced. It is to be noted among these changes that postal cards, other than government cards, require only a one-cent one-cent stamp, instead of a two-cent stamp. The regulations governing registered register-ed mail have also been changed. One can register mail now up to a .value of one thousand dollars, where the limit was. formerly one hundred dollars. dol-lars. The rates for registering are 15 cents up to a declared value of fifty dollars; 20 cents for one hundred dollars; and 10 cents more for each additional hundred. Air-mail registering calls for five cents for the first ounce or fraction, and ten cents for each additional ounce, regardless of distance. Formerly, Form-erly, it was ten cents for each half ounce or fraction. Newspaper rates have changed from two cents for each two ounces to one cent for each two ounces. Special delivery fees for parcel post have been changed. The rates now are 15 cents for parcels weighing not more than two pounds; 25 cents for parcels from two to ten pounds; and 35 cents for parcels exceeding ten pounds. The rates formerly were fifteen and twenty cents. Special delivery de-livery letter stamps are still the same ten cents. |
