Show DERN FLOPS DODGE IN HOLIDAY JOUST O'SHOCKER TOSSES OPPONENT OUT OF RING IN PRELIM. Ira Dern won from Farmer Dodge in the wrestling match held on the evening of the Fourth at Hanging Rock. The first fall came in seventeen seven-teen minutes and a half, and the sec-and sec-and in seven minutes and a half. Dern's famous airplane hold did the trick in both falls. Dodge proved stubborn in the first fall, and at several times, Dern was underneath with several wristlocks applied in succession. It was evident to all though that Dern was not being be-ing hurt, and could escape the holds with ease. The fall came unxpect-edly, unxpect-edly, with Dern raising up with the Farmer on his shoulder, and after whirling him three or four times, he dropped him to the mat for the fall. Dodge lay motionless for a few seconds, sec-onds, with the breath knocked out of him. After a five minute rest, they resumed. Dodge again got a few good holds, one being a head-lock which kept Dern pretty busy. Soon after, however, Dern took him for another ride, and dropped him to the mat for I he fall. In the semi-final, Pat O'shocker of Ohio pinned Jack Hollingbeck's shoulders to the mat in a little over ' wenty minutes. This event was much nore exciting than the main attrac-'ion. attrac-'ion. The nimble' O'Shocker twice flung his opponent from' the ring, the econd time with such force that Hol-'ingbeck Hol-'ingbeck was knocked out and had to retire to his dressing tent. He re-"ntered re-"ntered the ring soon, and was made; short work of by the stocky O'Shock-j r. Hollingbeck showed a good spirit ; :t continually boring in, but had few 'olds. He himself was in agony most! nf the time from the rapid succession .if grips clamped on him by O'Shocker. O'Shock-er. I i Several 'kid' boxing matches andj 1 attles royal preceded the main at-' raction. Stanley McKnight of Minersville, Min-ersville, refereed the events and did o in an efficient manner. The size of the crowd was a disappointment dis-appointment to the promoters. |
