YOUR BABY VALENTINE To have a little boy, they had A long time been a trying. They had so many girls around And they were always crying. I think 'twas three girls they had, And expected another. But I showed up on the scene, And those girls had a brother. 'Twas February the Fourteenth, Way back in nineteen four. When valentines were being kicked On everybody's door. There came a kick on your front door And the old bird ran away. And Mother then came out and found That I had come to stay. Of course," then, everyone was glad To havi a baby re--' But t':e clothes wer? built for crirls. Just what were they to do ? But clothes don't mak3 a man, they say, So they did the next best tiling. And got the clothes and fed me well And soon joy began to ring. They dolled me up in blankets And put me in the crib. And Father said, "There's one baby Who didn't beg a rib." They took good care of me for years And gave the little shove, That starts a man to thinking Of the great paternal love. They still call me their Valentine, "They hope I'll always be," And right now I am wishing I could be on my Mother's knee. |
