Show Halden Happenings. Winter has come .at last, the ground is covered with snow and ponds and ditches are frozen thick enough to permit the youngsters skating. Nov. 8th, a baby girl arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Stephenson. All concerned concern-ed doing well. Mrs. Olive Dixon and her daughter, Clara Heaps, of Canada, Can-ada, have come to spend the winter with Mrs. Dixon's parents par-ents Mr. and Mrs. D. R- Stevens. Thaddus and Evan Johnson have returned from Franklin, Nebraska, where they went with 6 cars of hogs for Burt Johnson of Delta. A big force of men and teams are busy grading the road through town. Election day passed off very excitingly, three Democrat and two republican cars carried thc-voters thc-voters of their respective parties to the polls. In the evening the Relief Society ladies gave z wood hauling dance and supper, their object being to obtain wooc for the aged and widows and ir return giving the dance and supper sup-per for the wood. Many people availed themselves of the opportunity oppor-tunity and enjoyed themselves immensely. During the dance reports were given out concern ing election returns. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stringharr have again taken up their resi dence among us. We are al ways glad to welcome them bad home. Mrs. Howard Barkdull o: Meadow, is here visiting hei ' mother, Mrs. Olive Stringham 1 Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Johnsoi and family of Sevier Co., cami ' over Sunday in their Veile ca: 1 and spent Sunday night an Monday with Mr. Johnson': mother, then went on to Hinck ley where they will stay a da; or two with Mrs. Johnson's ; parents. Dr. Robinson has been doinj dental work here the past week 1 Miss Marion Stephenson ha: 1 gone to Hinckley1 to attend thi 1 M. A. Mrs. Ellen Johnson is in Delt; with her son' and daughter Mr and Mrs. Riley Johnson. ' Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nixon en ' tertained at a chicken roas Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson from Fillmore are here visiting with their sister, Mrs. Janette Bishop. A rousing party was held in honor of a departing missionary, Evan Theobald. We wish him good luck and a most enjoyable time while he is away. Bert Robison and Fay Theodald are expected to leave soon for the same kind of work. We also wish to give them our good wishes for their welfare and a most successful time. Mrs. Frank Webb's mother, Mrs. Thornton has tieen visiting, also Mr. and Mrs. Charley Raw-linson Raw-linson from Oak City. ' Mr. Beal, our school teacher, was suddenly called home to at-' at-' tend the funeral of his brother, ' who was killed by an accident. ! Messrs Neely and Nelson re-1 re-1 port as having a splendid crop j of seed. Mr. Nelson had over 400 bushels and Mr. Neely al-' al-' most twice as much. , A grocery department is being-built being-built as an addition to the al-, al-, ready modern store of Pratt ' Bros., also a steam heating plant is being installed. The farewell party given for ' Fay Theobald last Saturday night, proved a most interesting time for those present. Altho C not many came on account of the cold wind and snowstorm, f a neat little purse of money was r collected, to help pay his miseion- ary expenses. 1 There is to be a social given in - honor of G. Albert Robison Fri-L' Fri-L' day night. Everybody should come and be loyal. An enjoy-3 enjoy-3 able time is expecjed. His missionary mis-sionary labors will be spent in California. Miss Elkington is spending a few days with her brother. Mrs. Broaddus and her aunt, Mrs. Cary Clay, left Hinckley 3 Thursday morning to be gone 5 for some time. Mrs. Clay is to meet her son and return to 1 their home in Iowa. Mrs. Broad- dus has gone to Salt Lake on Bishop is having a new t lumber shed and stable built. Such buildings improve the looks of our town, so citizens be loyal to the cause and go thru and do likewise. Our Economics meeting held at the Relief hall last Friday prov-g prov-g ed to be one of the best ever. Those who were not there mis-j mis-j sed a rare ' treat. The parade at e ! 10 o'clock proved to be a most e beautiful display, not only the :1 ' Academy students and their s class colors and mottoes, but the e; district school children and e : teachers together with both e i bands. Loyalty as well as pat- riotism was well shown. |
