Show ' ABRAHAM WATER RIGHT. The editor has been making some Inquiries about the water rights under un-der the Abraham canal and he finds that the farmera have not a definite amount of water. They and the Des-eiet Des-eiet Irrigation Company are entitled to three-sevenths of the flow of the river. If that amounts to 27 Inches they are entitled to that much, but when the river is low they cannot get that much. There was very little precipitation on the upper Sevier the past winter and therefore the Abraham Abra-ham allowance Is cut down. They have no rights In the storage reservoir, reser-voir, aa has the Deseret Company, so that whenever the river la low they are likely to Buffer from a shortage. If they could have used the surplus that went down the river In April, after the reservoir was filled, they would have had sufficient to have Irrigated Ir-rigated their alfalfa at least, although It came too early to water their grain crops. If settlers have bought land under the supposition that they would get 27 Inches of water every year for each water share they are evidently under a misapprehension. It looks as if the only way they can be sure of getting enough water every year Is to buy a right In the raise of the reservoir, reser-voir, or purchase additional water rights from some of the other companies. |
