Show when we had our meeting for the purpose of organizing. We meant to use the schoolhuse, but it was so pretty out in Smith's woods that we went over there. We decided this day before the meeting, and sent the word round so the women could bring something along to eat and drink; and we had one of the busiest and pleasantest picnics I ever attended. -..fe'TS Ira Daniels brought his notary public's seal and a little typewriter; type-writer; and we studied the Federal Fed-eral farm loan act and drew'the papers accordingly. Ira is a notary public and has been justice jus-tice of the peace; but I believe Will Allen or Miss Scott, the teacher, could have drown the papers just as well all but the affidavits. We had to have the notary's -seal on them. All we had to do was to say in the paper pa-per we signed that we desiered to borrow money under the provisions pro-visions of the Federal farm loan act, and did by the signing hereof here-of enter into articles of agreement agree-ment for the purpose of forming a National Farm Loan Association, Associa-tion, to carry on its business in Walnut Township, county and State aforesaid, and vicinity. (Continued next week) Visit From Clean Town Inspector James H. Wallis, judge of the "Clean Town Contest" was in town last Friday and paid the Chronicle a pleasant call. We were afraid to talk clean town to Mr. Wallis and, so, as he is one of the oldest newspaper men of Idaho we steered him off on questions as to Idaho and Utah newspapers and newspaper men so avoided facing some of the unpleasant things which might have arrisen as to clean town talk regarding Delta. However, he did talk along those lines just the same, enough to tell us that eastern papers were copying our Utah, "Clean Town Contest" reports and showing prospective settlers where they wanted to go and places they wanted to steer clear of, if they contemplated settling in Utah. Let's try and clean up a little better each year so that our rating will not look so bad when those eastern papers I publish these records hereafter. |
