Show Some Fine Potatoes Harvy Melville, who is farming farm-ing his father's place just west of town, dug his potatoes this week. He had in an acre of Russets and harvested 200 bu. off the acre and they were beauties beau-ties in the potato line too. Nice white ones of even size and clear, brittle, white on the inside. in-side. The Russet t is a commercial commer-cial potato which is raised in Idaho and has a great reputation on the market of the U. S. They are a smooth potato and just nice for cooking. Mr. Melville is an experienced Idaho potato raiser and the ground he raised the seed on, while it had been fertilized, is no different than any of the ground in this immediate im-mediate locality and was of the heavy nature. Mr. Melville says that there is no doubt in his mind but that we can grow good potatoes in paying quantities quanti-ties on any of our ground and be able to satisfy the home demand and have a surplus to ship. The thing to do tho, if you are going to try raising, get the best seed. The Russett is the most highly recommended of any western potato. |
