Cornelius Newton Bliss, for years one of the leading figures in national Republican poll-tics poll-tics and otherwise well known as a merchant and a member of the dry goods firm of Iillss, Fabylan & Co., died here Monday night of heart disease. dis-ease. The end was not wholly unexpected, unex-pected, as Mr. Iillss had been 111 for a year and his family bad noted tor some time that he was fast falling. Mr. Iillss was 78 years old, having been born In Fall River Mass., in 1833. He was treasurer of the Republican Re-publican national committee from 1192 to 1908, and previous to that had been chairman of the New York state Republican committee. |
