Show Tall of Autumn Leaves The fall of leaves In autuir.n Is a remarkably variable process, the foliage fol-iage of oaks snd beeches being slowly dropped during a period of weeks and even months, while some tree and shrubs Itecome suddenly bare In a few days. A curious report Is made by Prof. O. Kraus of a horse chestnut and a maple In the botanical garden at Halle, Germany. Hoth trees were in full leaf when a frost of 2G degrees Fahrenheit came on the night of Oct. 26 27, 1S92, and when the sun rose at 8 o'clock a veritable shower began from each tree, the leaves dropping In a great stream. The fall stopped suddenly at the end of an hour from the horse chestnut snd In about half an hour from the maple.
