Show Appeal Made For Housing for New Teachers An appeal is being made to Del-tans Del-tans to provide housing for teachers teach-ers for the coming year. There is an acute shortage in the teaching staff for the Delta elementary school, and there is also an acute shortage of housing. It is being found most difficult to sign up teachers tea-chers for Delta, as teachers who would come here can find no place to live, aside from room and board, where, the teacher has family ties and wishes to keep house they are unable to find one. It is hoped that there are families fami-lies in Delta who would be able to provide housekeeping apartments or housing for teachers and thus help in solving this problem. If you are able to do so, please call Mrs. Cora Harris, president of the PTA at 271, and advise her. She will in turn advise the school board and Supt. Maughn. Pfc. Chester Corbett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ois Corbett, returned to Delta Friday, from Ft. Benning, where he was released from the service. His wife and their infant daughter were awaiting him at the home of his parents, and it was Mr. Cor-bett's Cor-bett's first meeting wth his baby. Pvt. Derral W. Wright writes from San Jose Island, where he is stationed, sta-tioned, that it is a pretty nice place. He is with the Chemical Corps and working in the meter-ology meter-ology section at San Jose Project, which is about 60 miles off the coast of Panama. At the present they are testing German Gases and for 6 months they hve to carry gas masks around with them. |
