Frank Bishop called up his mother moth-er Sunday from Fort Sam Houston, to wish her birthday greetings. Ted Harris called his mother, Mrs. E. D. Harris, from Washignton, D. C, last Friday. It was Mrs. Harris' Har-ris' birthday. 1st Sgt. L. R. Finlinson writes to us that he is now married and liv-j ing in Casper, Wyo. Ruby Fullmer, seamon second class in the WAVES has reported o the bureau of suppy and accounts in Washington, D. C. She is a daughter dau-ghter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fullmer Full-mer of Abraham, and is a graduate of the Hinckley high school. Dale Tolbert returned to Delta this week from Montana; after being be-ing released from the Army he had the misfortune of injuring his hand and had the bones crushed. Cpl. William Simpson has been moved to New York City. (We are not allowed to print his address.) Pvt. Winford "Salty" Peterson spent a few days visiting his many friends in Lynndyl. He left Sunday for Tooele to visit his father a few days and returned to his base in Great Falls, Montana on Wednesday. Wednes-day. Pvt. Karl Gunn has returned to Bozeman, Montana, after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Gunn. He is in the Army Specialized Special-ized Training Unit. Pvt. Garvin Weer, son of Mri and Mrs. Wallace Allen, is home on a furlough from Camp White, Ore. Denton Sampson will go overseas soon; Wesley Sampson, Mrs. Dora Miller, Mrs. Jennie Miller and Mrs. Bertha Belliston went to California to visit him before his departure. Pfc. Leland J. Roper arrived in Oak City on furlough to visit his parents and friends. He is station-at station-at Camp Edwards, Mass. Seaman Carwin Nielson and Mrs. Nielson and little daughter are visiting vis-iting in Oak City this week; they are living in California, where Car-win Car-win is with the Coast Guards. They will return Sunday. Dan Hanson left Tuesday for Salt Lake City where he will meet Gordon Gor-don Twitchell and Chad Fidel. The three boys will then leave for San Francisco to apply for duty in the merchant marine. DeRoy Gardner, brother of Mrs. Orran Ashby, and who is with the Merchant Mariens spent last weekend week-end visiting here. He had with him Miss Connie Lundale, J. Lynn Lundale, and Miss Elaine Hickman. They attended the band dance Saturday Sat-urday night and had a very nice time. Lt. Glenn A. Allred circled low over Delta Friday afternoon to say hello to all his friends. He landed at the airport about 4:45 and took off at 5:45. The occupants included includ-ed Lt. Allred as pilot, Lt. Wood, co-pjilot, co-pjilot, the mechanic and two other oth-er service men. They had left Bur-bank, Bur-bank, Cal. in the afternoon and planned on arriving in Washington,. D. C. on Saturday with an all-night stop in Salt Lake City or Cheyenne (Continued on Fags 8) |
