Show Chatter Box bear Suzy, Over M years ago Hun Steele stalled working to complete Highway High-way b, only then it was called the tirand Central Highway, and according ac-cording to present day standards that highway was but a path through the brush. Now that the road is all oiled, smoothed out and has travel on it, it is only fitting fit-ting and proper that west Millard hold a celebration comemmorating same. This is to be done in Delta this week end in ia bang up fashion starting Friday evening with the fights. With these fights perennial peren-nial manager Arv Rose made a grave error by importing outside talent to cuff each other about in the ring. I believe the hall would be packed to the rafters to wiatch Shorty and lone Dalley re-enact their little tussle which has left Shorty much the worse for wear and a bit puffy about the eyes and face. Of course, Arv can't see into the future no more than can any of the rest of us and I don't suppose he know that such an event was in the making. Starting Saturday there have been some changes made from former celebrations that will be for the better. The last time they displayed a bomber here and allowed al-lowed people to tour same Rulon Oallister got crawling through the small holes for normal sized people peo-ple and got stuck in one. It took the combined efforts of the crew and the local city council to drag Mr. Callister back to fresh air, which was done. Now this time they have brought the bomber here in pieces so that a person can giaze through the windows at the inner workings of the plane and not get wedged in a small place which will be a decided advantage ad-vantage to Rulon. The publicity committee has been lax in giving credit where credit is due. Take for instance the picture of the big shots riding on the coach with Mayor Pace holding the reins of the 'fracetious horses. No one on the committee, thought to give credit to Dick Hunsaker who portrayed the part of four horses by holding the other oth-er end of the reins while Mayor Pace keeps his foot on the brake to keep Dick from running away. All in all it looks like some people will be packed in here tighter than sardines, and others wil be just plain tight. The press, and radio and opposing oppos-ing politicians are making quite a hubbub about Sen. Nixon taking tak-ing $18,000 of private money to finance his campaign. The reasons why Uiey are upset can be clearly seen and I don't blame them for being irked at Nixon. First, Nixon accepts a few thousands, thous-ands, whereas the politicians are accustomed to taking millions. This is a big let down for them. Secondly, Nixon took private money, mon-ey, whereas the politicians 'for the past 20 years have always been accustomed to helping themselves to public funds. Third, Nixon has offered to give it back and that upset the politicians the most, for once they get their hands on money mon-ey of any kind they hang on to it to hang on to their office. Toots. |
