On Sat-urday they were taken to Fillmore where they will visit for a while. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cropper and son Cordell, spent last week in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Roundy and their mother, Lillie Roundy, made a trip to the canyons in southern Utah. They left last Thursday and returned home on Monday. They were dissappointed when they got to the Grand Can-yon because a heavy fog hid the beauties of the canyon. But all in all they had a nice trip. Now these Oasis folks all get the same idea at the same time, occasionally, of course, they never let on there's anything in the wind but they get found out. Take for instance Mr. and Mrs. Glen Skeem and daughter, Evely, and Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Anderson, who decided they'd spend a few days in Salt Lake City and get a change of scenery. They went recovery. Clark Bishop" and his ion, Jerold, got bit, too, and they left last Thursday for Fish Lake where they met a party from Salt Lake City and they had a good time. They returend home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Derb Skeem went to Cedar City last Thursday. They met Mr. and Mrs. Roy Birrell of Salt Lake City and the group went to Yankee Meadows where they found good fishing. The Berrells came on to Oasis with the Skeems Sunday and after a good dinner went on to their home in Salt Lake City. Mr. Will Bishop from Salt Lake is visiting his children, Mr. and Mrs. Norval Christensen. Mrs. Ray Lovell, who was a pa-tient in the LDS hospital for four weeks, then was in the Delta hos-pital two weeks, was moved to her home last Thursday. Her recovery is very slow. Mr. and Mrs. David Bishop and son, Dean, have moved here from Oasis ' Mj La Veda Bishop I Mrs. Erma Skeem spent a week in American Fork because of the i sudden death of her brother, Mon-- I roe Hampton. Mr. Hampotn lived in Delta years ago, and may be jj remembered by some. Mr. Clifton Skeem and Mr. and Mrs. Berdell Memmott attend the I, funeral. I, Eight members of the Oasis Gar j, den Club attended the convention i! in Richfield on June 28. They re-- !; port having had a good profitable time. Mr. and Mrs. Norval Christensen entertained at a wienie roast last Monday evening, a week ago, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Tay-lor and Eldon Cahoon. Those pres-ent were the honored guests and Mr. and Mrs. Aroet Taylor and children, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ca-hoon, Mr. and Mrs. Neno Schena, Mr and Mrs. Dee Stevens and fam-ily, Mrs. lone Christensen and Mrs. Evelyn Skeem. Eldon Cahoon, who spent a 4- - day delay en route in Oasis, was accompanied by his parents as far as Salt Lake City last Monday. From there he went to San Anton-io, Texas, where he will attend advanced medical school. Pfc. Forrest Taylor and his wife, Helen Gene, drove to Salt Lake City last Friday and Monday. He left by plane for New Jersey and will leave for Germany shortly. Helen Gene dtove back to Oasis and is planning on going to Neva- - da to work for the summer. They j have been at Camp Roberts and spent ten days here. Mrs. Dosha Hatton, who is 95 years old, and her daughter, Mrs. Mamie Peterson and great-gran- d daughter, Irene, visited with Mrs. Peter H. Peterson and Mrs. Evelyn end with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rob-inson. Mrs. Ellen Anderson and four children from Ephraim, visited in Oasis Saturday to Monday at the Val Stylers: Mr. and Mrs. Bob Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Robinson left Tuesday for Moses Lake, Wash., where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Jackson. They will be gone ten days. down town and who should they meet but Fred and Elva Skeem and their daughter Beverly. A bit later they met Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Skeem and son, Evan. Then they ran into Berdell and Helen Mem-mott. They thought they might as well of stayed home if it was new sights they wanted to see. Then there has been an epide-mic of fishitis, and they say that th only remedy known for this di-sease is to go fishing. So some of the folks around here have been taking the cure. Al and Cas-si- e Johnson and Nog and Ella Christensen spent three days in the Beaver mountains 'and had themselves a gool time. The fish were hungry and so they bit, and the foursome enjoyed the trip. Now this is the second dose for these four. They made another trip a couple of weeks ago along with Derb and Vennessa Skeem. So they should be on the road to Provo. They will live in their trailer house thissummer. Mr. Carlos Bishop and son, James, from Cedar City are visit-ing a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop while Carlos looks after his farm in Hinckley. Mr. and Mrs. LeMoine Bond of Salt Lake City spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. David Nihcols. Mrs. Carrie Black and grandson, Phil, from Riverside, Calif., are visiting with Mrs. Betsy Skeem. Also guests of Mrs. Skeem are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Moore and son Richard, from Orinda, Cal. Mr. and Mrs. Arland Styler came Thursday and visited to Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Val Styler. They took their chil-dren, who have been here visiting with them to their home in Boun-tiful. Mr. and Mrs. Loren Ferre of Salt Lake City, visited over the week- - Ilhickicy News LYLA RAE TALBOT A party for Jerry Humphries was held at the home of Anna Lee Swensen last Wednesday. Goldwyn Cluff spent a few days in Salt Lake last week. Betty Meacham is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Robison in Orem. Mr. and Mrs. George Talbot re-cently returned from a trip up to Twin Falls and home by way of Elko, Nev., where they attended the "Silver Slate Stampede." Sunday night the Gospel Mes-sage class met down to Elaine Wilsons' after church to write let-ters to Lawrence Wright, who was recently wounded in Korea. Those that attended were Evelyn Skeem, Melvin Hepworth, June Hepworth, Blaine Wilson, Jane Cahoon Verla Wright, Harold Hepworth, Anna Lee Swensen, Dorothy Morris, and Lyla Rae Talbot. Ice cream and cookies were served. Lawrence was wounded in the hip and will hos-pitalized for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Dillenbeck Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hardy Jim Mein-ber- g and Gail Bennett are vaca-tioning in California and vicinity for about 10 days. Spending the week end fishing at Kanosh Canyon was Mr. and Mrs. George Talbot, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Warner and Lee, and Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Franklin and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Manis and son, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Dillen-beck, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Talbot and family and Grant Hardy were some of the people who attended the Tooele rodeo. Jack took first place in the Calf Roping and Grant's horse sure did run good. ' Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gardner from Reno and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Cott-re- ll from McGill were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. R. Swensen. The Five Fiberettes held their first meeting in the Hinckley high school on June 30th Plans were discussed on the canyon trip. Members of the group include Myrna Petersen, president, Mar -- gene Hilton, vice president, sylvia Bishop secretary, Anna Lee Swen-sen, reporter and Romona Robin-son. Mrs. Howard Hardy is their teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Woffinden and family from Salt Lake were visitors of Mr and Mrs. Alma Wes-tern. The Hinckley Boy Scouts took a trip to SawTooth mountain for a few days. 27 boys went under the direction of their leader Sheldon Western. Melvin Hepworth also went to help chaperon. Art Reeve spent ad ay there also. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Talbot, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Robinson,, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hilton spent the 4th celebration in Fillmore. Mr. and Mi;s. Harold Spencer and family spent a few days in Goshen last week Mrs. Wesley Morris returned from Salt Lake Tuesday night and reports that her husband is com-ing along OK. His lungs are fine. He has a concussion of the spine, but the doctors are real encourag-ed about him. Las Vegas visitors recently were Mr. and 'Mrs. Oren Bliss, Roger and Alice Gaye. They returned home through the parks. Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Nielson and family are visiting in Yellowstone and Oregon They will bring Mrs. Wanda Barnes home from Oregon to Salt Lake City wit them. She has been visiting with her children who all live in Oregon. Eva ' and Elsie Blake visited home on the Fourth, from Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Harvard Hat-to- n also visited Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Blake and went to California from here Colleen Blake also went with them into California. Verla and Corma Wright spent Friday and Saturday in Provo with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Farnsworth. Visitors at the home of Mrs. Em- - ma Spendlove over the week end were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Spen-dlove. ; Mr. and Mrs.' Lee Wilson were in Spanish Fork visiting recently.
