Show Parents Day Is Feb. 14 Event Atelta High The twenty-sixth annual Parents Par-ents Day at Delta high school is an event for Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. On that day pupils will have a holiday, and parents will have a day in school. The program was initiated 26 years ago by L. S. Dorius, then on the faculty, and has been continued since with increasing in-creasing popularity. The day's program will begin at school time, 9 a.m., for registration regis-tration which will continue thru the day. There will be a short morning assembly and then parents par-ents will have class periods until noon. Luncheon will be served during the noon hour in the school hot lunch room, at 60 cents per lunch. There will also be a donation box in the high school hall where parents par-ents may put in any sum they wish to help defray expenses of the day. Also at the noon hour movies will be shown, and this year the films will be "Monuments of Ancient An-cient Mexico" and a scenic view of Utah. DR. CHASE TO SPEAK An afternoon assembly Is sche- duled for 2:15 p.m., at which time the speaker will be Dr. Daryl Chase, director of Branch Agricultural Agricul-tural college at Cedar City. This will be Dr. Chase's first visit to Delta and he writes that he welcomes wel-comes the opportunity to meet Delta high school parents. Preceding the afternoon program will be a pep rally and election of parents as officers of Parents' Day in 1953. Another afteroon event, following follow-ing the program, will be the basketball bas-ketball game, when the faculty and parents take part in a tough tussle. Coach Osborne is lining up faculty talent, while George Samp- son is looking for all-stars among the parents. A film, "The Story of Alexander Graham Bell," will be shown in the auditorium at 6 p.m. to entertain en-tertain parents before the evening program which will begin at 7:30 p.m. LOCAL TALENT Local talent will be used for the evening program, and numbers are being prepared from Delta First, Second and Third wards, Lynndyl, Leamington, Oak City, Deseret, O-asis, O-asis, Sutherland and Sugarville. At the close of the program parents will go to the gymnasium for the concluding event of the day, which will be the old-time dance. |
