MERRILL MILLER Mr. and Mrs. David Stewart have returned to Black Rock after visit-ing relatives in Texas. Both report-ed a very pleasant time. Bruce Madsen and Dewey Peter-son spent Thanksgiving with their families in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. land Mrs. Hampton Burke en-joyed an excellent Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Gale in Milford. On Thanksgiving Day about 50 Indians arrived in Black Rock to work on the extra gang that is located here. Arnold Peterson returned Mon-day to the college in Logan after spending a week at home due to illness. He stopped in Salt Lake City for another check up from his doctor before going on to the school. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Franklin and son and Mr. and Mrs. George Talbot of Hinckley, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Warner and daughter, Lee, of Deseret, all spent Thanks-giving day at Provo at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Dee Ben-nett. They enjoyed a delicious tur-key dinner with all the trimmings. Clifford and Erma Peterson and family are sporting a new car these days. Monday evening the officers and ior this affair and Mrs. Elcaidean Barker, Mrs. Delia Deem, Miss Peterson and Mis. Peggy Franklin of the MIA helped pre-pare and serve the banqeut. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ken-neth Barker over the Thanksgiv-ing holiday were their parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Nielson and Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Barker and Kenneth's brother, Owen, who has just recently returned from a mis-sion in the central states. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Schena on the arrival of ia new baby boy at the Fillmore hos-pital Friday. The baby weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces. Thanksgiving day the family of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Taylor held a reunion in the church house, where they enjoyed a festive din-ner and each family presented parts for a program. Family mem-bers there were Mr. and Mrs. Bar-nard Bushnell and family of Mea-dow, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Taylor and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Tay-lor and sons Mr. and Mrs. Stew-art Taylor land family and Cleve Taylor, Follett Taylor, who lives in California was unable to be here. The Clifford Peterson family gave the program in church Sun-day evening with Mrs. Erma Pet-erson land Arnold giving talks, and music was furnished by Ar-nold, Larayne, Merrill and Shar-len- e played their accordions. Richard Fullmer is down with the flu this week.. teachers of the MIA gave a party honoring the g officers and teachers of the preceding year. There was a preliminary cor-relation meeting with the bishop-ric, after which games were play-ed with prizes for the contestants. Then we all enjoyed a potluck sup per. This past week the Relief So-ciety has been busy quilting a quilt to be sold at the bazaar. They would like to invite everyone to come Thursday evening, Dec. 11 Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Fnanklin are leaving this next week for Cal-ifornia and Chandler, Arizona to spend the Christmas holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin. Mr. land Mrs. Parley Deem and daughters left Wednesday for Cal- - Mrs. Keoecca scnena had a oacK set Friday. Her temperature was 104 and she had lost her speech, but was still able to move her toes and fingers. Monday morning Mrs. Mary Schena and her daugh-ter, Carmela, went to Salt Lake to see Becky and Benny. Becky is in the polio ward of the General hospital in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. John Fullmer, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Fullmer land Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fullmer and their families spent Thanksgiving day in Tooele with Mr. and Mrs. Almon Fullmer and family. They also vis-ited in Centerville with Mrs. John Fullmer's brother Austin Duncan, who is in the hospital ill. Miss Bally Kay Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Young, is recuperating from the chicken pox at her aunt's 'home, Mrs. Emily S. Young. She has a new baby broth-er at home and hasn't been able to be near him while she has been ill. Myron Taylor is home from his schooling at the BYU in Provo. ifornia where they will make their home this winter. Mrs. Reva Bliss attended a polio meeting in Delta last Tuesday eve-ning. Those present were shown films on polio on I state represen-tatives spoke. The polio fund quota this year will be higher than in the past due to so many more cases of this disease. Last Tuesday night Floyd Tol-be- rt was sitting at home enjoying his new television set while every-one else in the family had gone to Mutual,' and all of a sudden it started to smoke and then caught on fire. Fuzzy wasn't very long getting it out of doors and throw-ing a bucket of water on it to douse the flame. Needless to say they now have a different set. Bob Blanche and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Taylor, Sherrill Tolbert and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tolbert and their lead-er, Sherman Tolbert and his wife, Gladys, were honored at the Boy Scout banquet Saturday evening in the stake house. Sherman Sher-rill and Bob were given their Eagle awards, and their mothers and wife were awarded pins. sold their quota of tickets Iiindyl Girls Sfori' Victory Tuesday night, Nov. 25, Leaming-ton and Lynndyl girls played their first league volleyball game. The teams played a three-gam- e series. The first team to win two of the games was to be the winner. Lynndyl easily won the first game, 15-- but Leamington made a strong comeback, winning the second game 15-1- The last game could have been won by either team, but when the game ended Lynndyl was on the long end of the 15-1- 3 score. These volleyball games are real-ly exciting, and everyone should come out u.nd support these games.
