Show Rebecca Schena Is Improving In Polio Bout Mrs. Rebecca Schena, a patient in the polio ward at Salt Lake General hospital since Friday, Nov. 21, is making a good recovery, according ac-cording to word 'from her family today. She is still in the iron lung, but is regaining some use of her paralyzed par-alyzed limbs. She can now move her arms and wiggle her toes, and Tuesday she swallowed water, which was considered an encouraging encour-aging sign. Her husband, Benny Schena, has been with her since she entered the hospital and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Carmela Hoelzle, is also in Salt Lake City to help care in her care. Her sister from Oakland, ar- rived in Salt Lake City Tuesday to be with her. Mrs. Schena has had two types of polio, and was considered a "critical" case. It is good news this week to learn that she is on the road to recovery, and according accord-ing to medical aids will eventually eventual-ly recover the use of every limb. Her spirit is good, and she has a wide smile for her visitors and attendants. A number of messages have been sent her at the hospital hospi-tal and all welcome and of interest inter-est to her. |
