Show Water Trial To Be Continued January 30th The trial in Panguitch started this past week when the landown- -ers at Hatch and Circleville presented pre-sented evidence appealing from a decision of the state engineer which denied them the right to build a dam near Hatch. They are asking that they be able to rebuild re-build a dam that washed out in 1914 and to store water for summer sum-mer irrigation. They have year around ar-ound rights on the Sevier, but as they can't use the water during the winter, they want to store the water and use it when they can. Storing this water would work to a detriment to lower users who are at present storing water in the Piute and Yuba reservoirs, for various var-ious irrigation companies along the river .Although the amount of water wat-er requested is not large should this case be won by the upper water users it is expected that it would bring about a large number num-ber of other applicants asking for dams all along the Sevier river which would in time destroy the water rights of lower river users. The case was heard before Judge Lewis Jones of Brigham City and will be continued when court convenes con-venes on January 30th. The Garfield County News (Panguitch) (Pan-guitch) says: Panguitch has been an unusually unusu-ally busy town as a result of this influx of legal talent and interested inter-ested persons from down the river. riv-er. You had to stand in line for breakfast at the local cafes and the local hotels are doing a "Tour- t ist Season" business in the middle mid-dle of winter. |
