Show Howell. The family intended to visit the canyons on their way back home. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ballentyne and 3 children from Boulder City, Nev., spent the week- end with the Morgan Howell family. The ladies are sisters. From here they were on their way back east to purchase a new car. Miss Norma Fay Howell returned home last Wednesday after spending spend-ing the past four weeks with her grandmother Mrs. Amy Brinkerhofi in Beaver. Mrs. Brinkerhoff accompanied accom-panied Norma Fay this far and went on after a day or two to Tooele, Too-ele, where she will be employed for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Arlyn Styler frrirr Bountiful came down to attend the wedding dance Monday evening even-ing and to take their sons, Brent and Lynn home. The boys have been visiting their grandparents, the past two weeks, while their parents have been off on a trip back east .They got a new car in Michigan and went on to Canada and Niagara Falls and back thru some o fthe historical places, Car-thaee. Car-thaee. Nauvoo and others. Oasis Mrs La Veda Bishop Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Harms and children, Carl and Claree Huff, of Oak Ridge, Ore., visited with Mrs. Hannah Huff last week. They arrived ar-rived in Oasis last Thursday and left Monday to go on to Salt Lake where they will visit with Mrs. Harms' parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Johns. Carl was just recently released from the army. He was in Germany Germ-any for quite some time with the TJf. S. forces. Mr. Carl Brown from Salt Lake City is visiting with his sister, Han nah Huff who has ben ill the past week. We are glad to report that she is improving. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Giles from Little Karen visited with a uncle un-cle and aunt in Mona while Arlyn and Mary were gone. The family all together once more, will return re-turn to Bountiful early Wednesday. Bishop and Mrs. Arlo Messenger of Beaver attended the wedding dance in Oak City Monday night also. Mr. Telia Strang and little Miss Julia Tenn visited in Oasis from Thursday until Su;nday. Then Norma Nor-ma Gene Strang returned to Salt Lake with them after spending the past 2 weeks with the Hawley family. Fillmore were guests at the Ed Christensen home ast Saturday and attended the rodeo. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Skeem, Mrs. Annie Skeem and Mrs. Evelyn Haw ley, went to Manti last Friday to attend the wedding ceremony of Mr. Ted Skeem and Miss Elva Webb. The new Mr. and Mrs. Skeem left immediately after the ceremony for a honeymoon trip up thru Yellowstone park. A large portion of the Oasis population attended the wedding dance in Oak City that honored Mr. and Mrs. Russell Styler Monday Mon-day evening. Mrs. Ted Stanworth and daughter, daugh-ter, Margaret went to Salt Lake City Tuesday where Mrs. Stan -worth hopes to find some relief from the hay fever that has been treating her pretty rough the last while. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hawley went to Provo last Wednesday where Med parted with a tooth and he's going around now with a man sized jaw on one side. So if you chance to meet the boy, that's not '"climax" it's toothache. Clark Bishop went to Salt Lake Monday and sang with the Desert Sentinels at the Millard County reunion. He returnd home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Faulkner and daughters, Shirley and Dorothy of Monrovia Cal. visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Howell. Mrs. Faulkner is the former Melba Mr. and Mrs. Grant Petersen took their son, Ronald to Salt Lake Tuesday on account of hay fever and little Lois went along for the trip. Miss Dessie Webster from Payson who has been visiting with her cousin, Mrs. Golden Warnick, for the week past returned to her home last Sunday. The work on the new warehouse at the seed plant is progressing rapidly. A crew of six iron workers from Salt Lake City are setting it up and this week will see the main part of it done. I am informed inform-ed that the mills will more than likely be running and cleaning seed before the week is over. Little Jerry Hawley was guest of honor at a birthday party given by his mother Mrs. Melvin Hawley Monday afternoon. Ten little friends enjoyed the games and fun and the ice cream and cake. Jerry is 8 years old. The Relief Society held a special work day Tuesday and made a quilt. We congratulate the people in Oasis who were public spirited enough en-ough to build a float and enter it in the parade in Deseret Saturday. Satur-day. And we were right proud that it received Honorable Mention Of course a lot of credit goes to "Old Timer" Gus Johnson, in case you didn't recognize him. And did you notice that jug? Oh! Oh! Gus. |
