Show Utah Refuses Nevada Aid On HJ.S. Highway 6 j' Utah will have to construct its j .lichwavs without the aid of a 550,000 interest - free loan proffered prof-fered by a group of Nevadans, according ac-cording to an article in the S. L. j (Mbune Feb. 7. An opinion from Clinton D. Vernon, Ver-non, attorney general of Utah, to he state road commission, stated We have been unable to find any tatute specifcally authorizing the aad commission to borrow such loney, nor any state from which ; might be inferred that the road ommission has such authority." The loan was offered in Deeem-er Deeem-er from Ely and fellow Nevadans on Highway Six who were anxious to have the road completed from Hinckley to the Nevada line. They were cheered by word of D. H. Whittenbiyg, chairman of the states road commision, that 18 miles of improvements will be made this years at a cost of $250, 000. To improve the remainder of the road would call for an outlay of nearly $800,000, he said. |
