Show Delta First Verd ' Senior Scoots Team Wins High Praise Minp-sville Senior Scouts defeated American Fork Saturday March 20, 29 - 9, to win the Utah National Parks senior scout championship. Since their return from the tourney, they have opened negotiations with the Delta 1st ward Senior Scouts, , for another game to be played at jMinersville within the near future. The Delta team placed second in the regional tilts played early in March at St. George, losing to Min-ersville Min-ersville by 7 points, 32 - 25. Minersville would pay expenses for the Delta team to journey to Minersville, as they feel the game would meet with interest. Minersville, Miners-ville, with a team of exceptionally able players was of the opinion that the Delta boys were a "remarkable "re-markable squad", and came closer to holding their own in the tournament tourna-ment play than any other teams Minersville met. Two representatives representa-tives were in Delta Saturday, to I meet with Glen Swalberg, coach I of the First ward team, and plan a return game. Dates will be announced an-nounced when plans are completed. Glen is justifiably proud of the boys, who were pictured in the Chronicle on March 11. Team members mem-bers are Jackie Davidson, Sydney Morris, Sheldon Callister, Ronald and Donald Wilkins, Jay Jeffery, Leif Alldredge, Winston Christen-sen Christen-sen and Joe Stewart. The following letter confirms his belief: March 23, 1948 Dear Glen and Wayne, The faot that Minersville ran off with the Council Senior Scout championship confirms my belief sthat you and your gang were of championship calibre, and that you played mighty good ball. You are certainly to be congratulated on your showing. If you could have been in the tournament at Provo, I'm sure you could have counted out a number of the others, but that's the game about it and you have to toss everything in on one game very often without another chance and take what the breaks offer. Will you convey my congratulations congrat-ulations to the gang on their showing show-ing in the light of what has happened hap-pened since we played in St. George. Geo-rge. ' Scouting yours, W.
