Show Party Finds Four Kinds of Fossils Sunday Emory John took D. C. King, of Clear Lake, and Frank Beckwith, Sr. to Leamington, where we were met by Samuel P. Jensen, who piloted the party to the fossil fos-sil field of corals which lies north of the river in the hills. We drove the jeep as far as we could and then walked. Snow lay on the shady sides of the mountains so going was difficult. We walked nearly five miles and came back to the car quite tired. The area has been picked over very much, so that all the better ones were gone, but we found some which were fairly good,, and one specimen which was well worth wor-th the trip. It was washed in acid and the outer scum removed, making mak-ing it Very presentable. Emory now has the piece in his collection. Pictures were taken of Mr. Jensen by some of his nice collection which later were found to be good, and use will be made of them later. Although the trip was hard we all enjoyed it, especially as giving an indication of ancient sea life in that locality. |
