Show n n n SOMEONE ALWAYS PAYS We get nothing in this world free of charge except air and it costs money now days to get fresh air, in many instances. One of the political manias of recent years has been to give the people something some-thing for nothing at government expense Witness the federal farm loan act whereby farm loan bonds to raise money to loan the farmer at low rates of interest are exempted from all forms of taxation. As a result hundreds of millions of dollars dol-lars of these bonds are now owned by wealthy tax dodgers. But the . farmer and the wealthy bond holder must pay double taxes on other property or in-increased in-increased prices for whatever they eat, wear or buy to make up for double taxes paid by someone else to cover taxes lost on tax free bonds which were to give someone something for nothing. The more tax exemptions we get the higher the tax bill grows for the remaining remain-ing taxpayers and the higher commodity uces rise to cover the cost of increased taxation. A return to the principles of equal taxation tax-ation would be one of the greatest steps toward a proper readjustment from the cost of living. A few more laws in the interest of the rank and file and a few less in the interest inter-est of Wall street are now in order. The congressman who keeps his eye on the "four hundred" and his ear in the direction di-rection of the "ninety millions" is the congressman of the future. pi fc te |
