Show FEAR LYNCHING.IN r CASE OF BRUTAL GHILDMURDER GREELEY. Colo., Juiy 27. Wm, UUcy Hill, arrested yesterday lu connection with tho murder near Eno, Colo., of Ills ten year old step-- step-- daughter, Helen Maxlno Short, ar-tlved ar-tlved hero early this morning In the custody of Sheriff A. E. Cormier of Adams county, and lodged in tho Weld county jail. Tho girl was slain in Adams county, but Hill was brought hero for safekeeping. Hill was taken from the train at Fort Morgan, Colo., 7.8 miles northeast north-east of Denver and rushed to this city In an automobile under hear? guard. Ho was to have been taken Into Denver but plans wero changed when rumors reached hero that feeling feel-ing was running high there. The body of tho girl, for whoso murder Hill Is being held, was found last Saturday In a ditch near Eno. Sho had been weighted down with i pieces of iron. Tho coroner said sho had been thrown Into tho ditch j which was filled with water, alive. 1 Hill was brought to Jail here in leg irons. He appeared to be very 1 nervous and had nothing to say ex- ; cept "they got tho wrong man."
