Y. Smith and Willis Smith, Mesdames L. B. Farr, It. Griffiths, L. Toolson and J. J. Richardson. Rich-ardson. Elder A. J. Wlokham sent word that he has landed at San Gnanclsco from the Australian mission field. Mr, and Mrs. Newton Woodruff and children and Miss Eunice Woodruff Wood-ruff arrived home this week from Chicago. Mr. Woodroof graduated from the school of pharmacy. Mr. Erahel Larson, son of L. E. Larson, Is the first one to enlist In the U. S. navy from our city. Ho took tho examination at Salt Lako ion June 4 and received 98 per cent In his examination. The Sego Lily swarm of Bee-Hive girls entertained all the swarms of tho Second ward on Tuesday night. A special program has been arranged and refreshments will be served. A special election will bo held on Juno ?5 to vote on tho questton of lovylng annually a one-mill tax on tho dollar on all taxable city property proper-ty for the purpose, of establishing and maintaining a freo public library. Prof. J. E. Hickman, of tho B. Y. college, will lecture In the tabernacle, on Sunday, the 17th, before the parents par-ents class of the Sunday school. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Griffith aro visiting In Idaho Falls. Mrs. Ellas Mather of Grace, Idaho, Is visiting relatives here. Mrs. George H. Thomas of Rlgby is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thorn-ley. Thorn-ley. Among the Salt Lake visitors last week were: Messrs. James Roskelley, Bishop G. Y.Smlth, Ed. Chambers, Mon( Tlmmons, and the Mesdames Maud Boskelley and It. V. Larsen, and the Misses Hannah Hind, Famo and Viola Gyllenskog. The W. O. W. held special services at the city cemetery last Sunday. The main feature was the unveiling of the monument, erected to the memory mem-ory of the late Otto Rasmussen. Mrs. W. O. Griffiths and Miss Jean Watts are at home again after an extended ex-tended visit In Salt Lake. Mrs. J. E. Pitcher of Boise, Idaho, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Annie Miles, and family. Mrs. Peter Hanson, who Is at tho hospital receiving treatment, Is reported re-ported as much Improved. Mayor J. J. Richardson went to Salt Lako and Pocatello tho past week on a business trip. The Union Hall company will give a grand ball after the picture show on Saturday night. The well filled houses every night are evidences of the growing popularity of this beautiful beau-tiful play house. The city orchestra played for tho grand ball at Newton last Friday" night. So well pleased were the dancers that they raised an amount sufficient to pay tho orchestra extra to play until 1 a. m. Mrs. T. B. Farr entertained tho U. P. D. camp on Juno 13. Supt. Larson explained tho movement for a proposed library for our city. Mrs. Winn rendered a vocal solo. Mrs. O. Y. Smith gave a sketch of tho llfo of .Andrew Carnegie. Miss Chloo Cantwell and Mrs. Frank Winn sang "The Rosary." Mrs. J. E. Pitcher sang "Kind Words Aro Sweet Tones of tho Heart." Dainty refreshments were sorved after the program. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Cragun aro rejoicing over he arrlcal of a baby girl. Several of our townspeople attended attend-ed the Chautauqua, which was held at Richmond, from June 9 to 14. Mr. and Mrs. George Sant, Sr., Mrs. Magglo Griffith and Evan Hansen Han-sen atteuded Idaho Day celebration at Franklin on Friday. |
