Show MARY PICKFORD ATTHE LYRIC I loe to do great things." exclaimed ex-claimed Mary Pickford, ' America' Sweetheart." as she sat in tho shade of a tiee during a pause In the fllti-ing fllti-ing of her .scenes In "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" In which she Is now appearing at the Lyric theatre, "and I feel that In being Rebecca, I am doing something great, for 1 have always loved this clever story and wns delighted when I wns able to start the photodramatlc version. I saw It done on the stage, but In my mind the stage Is Inadequate for showing this wonderful story as It should be shown. "My last production, 'The Little American,' I consider something EL 'r tosSo - - 5 i .I. , (n, I TtUcra . "I consider 'Rebecca of Sunny-brook Sunny-brook Farm' equally ns great because It makes an undying record of tho I wonderful story of Kate Douglas Wiggln and Charlotte Thompson. I have enjoyed every minute of this production because I run around In short dresses and act the little kid I always wanted to be. I havo been on the stage and screen so long that I have never had much time for playing. play-ing. "The days we gave the circus In the barn, the whole studio stopped work and came over to play with us., It was all I could do to keep Douglas Fairbanks, Julian Eltinge, Wallace Reld nnd some of the others from getting get-ting In and playing like the rest of the children. "I didn't know I was such a horseback horse-back rider until I dashed around the ring. I have seen houses when I was a little girl, Just like the home of the aunts I visit In the picture. Everything Every-thing covered up to keep out the dust and dirt nnd everything scrupulously clean, and I have always wanted to go nround nnt muss things up, nnd this I did In 'Rebecca' not because it was In tho story, but simply because be-cause I Velt that my opportunity had come when I could get even for the times I had to wipe my feet on the door mat and be careful not to leave finger marks on the chairs." - |
