Show I RELIEF SOCIETY I CONFERENCE I HELD MAY 18TH j The Relief Society conference was I held In the Logan tabernaclo May 18, 1017, with Pres. Lucy S. Cardon I presiding and Klnnle D. Cnino con- H ducting the exercises. Meeting com- 9 menced by singing "Oh Ye Mountains I High"; prayer by Susan J. Smith; I singing, "Oh Say What' Is Truth." I Pres. Amelia Blanchard roportcd I iogan Third ward, having an enroll- I ment of 73 members with an average I attendance of thirty. They meet m every Tuesday evening, and their t fi teachers' meeting Is held Thursday i " afternoon,-once a month. W BPres. Alice Jackson reported the I Logan Seventh ward, having 85 mora- S bers with an average attendance of M 25 and have 28 teachers. They M keep n little means on hand for an j emergency. M Pres. Eldora Maughan reported I Logan Eighth, ward. They have 75 enrolled with an average attendance W of 25. They meet twice a month, giving two lessons at each meeting. B In this way they aim to cover tho M guide work. . M Martha W. Carlisle reported the general Relief Society conference held In Salt Lake In April. She told m of a gentleman from the East who had attended the meeting whore there were fifteen hundred women and how It had Impressed him, cs they were with the power for good, andthe peculiar feeling ho experienced experi-enced as ho listened to them. Lucy Cardon nsked tho presl-dents presl-dents to return tho blanks as soon as possible, that had been sent to them to be filled out, showing tho occupation of each mdmbcr and what they have on hand In dried fruits and provisions. Klnnlo D. Calno read a letter from the general board explaining tho requirements. re-quirements. Margaret Wilkinson then mado n strong,talk.fpr the Red Cross work, and encouraged members to Join them. She .also displayed, a great many articles made by tho chapter here. ' Mrs. RcyBullen,. further explained the work. She said th'at yarn would be furnished to any ofMho ladles of tho Relief Soclety'who desired to knit stockings for the Red Cross. Pres. Cardon said this was forn. good, cause, and all good come3 from, the Lord. She enocuraged the sisters sis-ters to aid In any way thoy could. Tho meeting closed by singing. Benediction by R. E. She said that whenever the priesthood calls us, though we feel weak, wa should put ourselves In the bands of God and we will get support.' She said she had visited the meeting to get some new Ideas to tako back and use In their work. j Mrs, R. E. Moench bore testlftnony to tho gospel. Sho spoke of tho lore, referred to .by Pres. .Smith, at our conference, also, of his blessings the sisters and she felt, that If we lived for it we would rocolve blessings. I Mrs. Burnham and Mlsa Cherry I sang a duet. I Mary E. Smith related a story and compared It to tho help she felt tho Relief Society work had been to hor, She said that It wai with Badness that she had recorded the minutes giving the last reports of Sister Jo- ' hanah Petersen and Susan J. Smith, both of whom had labored many i years as president, but now had resigned. re-signed. Sister Petersen was an early pioneer of Hyde Park, and was rich In experience. Sister Smith had worked as an oflcer In' the early organization or-ganization of tho Second ward. Sho , had lived neighbors to her In Canada while site, with her husband, sought protection under a foreign flag. Sho admonished all to do right regardless regard-less of other people's faults.- Sister Mary L. Hendrlckson said she had thought at one time that tho Mutual work was the most Important Import-ant there was, guiding the you'll, and she thought yet that It was a great responsibility, but had learned there was other work equally responsible, to' be able to labor among tho poor, sick 'and needy, administer to them and bk3s them, nnd tho blessing? prove effectual.
