Show LEWISTON OLD PEOPLE GIVEN NICE PARTY Lcwiston, March S 1917 The Old Folks Reunion of the 1st Ward was held Feb. 27th. Program for the meeting was as follows; Singing, congregation, Prayer by Chaplain Ed. I.cavitt. Duett by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Elwood. Speech of Welcome Dr. Milo Whcclcr, Violin and piano duct Doris and Rcgnald Deals. Paper, Mrs. Gale LcVis. Solo Harry Colcy. Speech Mr. Will Lewis of Richmond. Story Robert Majors. Recitation Mrs. Charles Pond. Duct Mr. and Mrs. A. Jlrown. Speech Mr. James Mciklc of Smith-field. Smith-field. Solo Mclvin Colcy. Speech President Waddoups. Quartet, Andrew An-drew Wiser and Co. Fic hundred people were served at an excellent dinner at the Opera House, 'flic afternoon was spent in games, contests, dances and program It was considered one of the best parties held in the ward. Mrs. Aaron Kartchncr came home from the Uta'i-lihfiO Hospital at I ogau last week but is still very ill. A fine Twilight sleep baby I ov arrivd at tnc homo of Mr. and Mrs Win. H. Stocks Feb. 28. Dr. Curtis illaiul of Preston officiated. The R. Forrest Taylor Co. presented present-ed the drama : "Where the Trail Divides," & "The Prisoner of Zcnda." Friday and Saturday nights to a crowded house. The quorum of Severities gave a welcome home party Thursday night to Miss Sarah Ilycr and Elder Otto Stocks. An excellent program was rendered: Reading F. M. Stephenson Recitation Sadie ncrnliiscl. Quartet Andrew Wiser 'and Co., Musical Dores and Reginald Hcales. Speech Charles Pond. Dancing was the diversion div-ersion of the evening. Refreshments wore served. Mcssr-t. Peit-and Pond and Reuben Karrcn were Salt Lake visitors last week. Mrs. II. II. Harrison of Logan was isititig at I.ewiston. Friday. Horn to Mr. and Mrs Bert Orclnri! March 2nd a fine Twilight Sleep baby boy. Dr. Bland of Preston, officiated Miss Mary Pond of I.ewiston and Miss Verne Robinson of Richmond spent several days visiting at Salt Lake last week. Children and grand-children of Mrs. Sarah Stocks celebrated her (.8th birthday S'liidiy. an excellent dinner vas served. Mrs. James Taggart entertained a number of fricids and neighbors Thursday. Wednesday night a weigh dr.nce was given at the 2nd ward. Elwood orchestra was in attendance. A Hawaiian concert was given at the 3rd. ward Wednesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Rert Fife and Mr and Mrs. H. H, Harrison of Logan were visitors at I.ewiston Sunday. The I.ewiston Mutuals presented the drama "Next Door" at Newton Wcllsvillc and Smit.lifield this week I.ewiston basket ball team played a game with Preston team Saturday evening score 40 to 30 in Preston's favor. Miss Nilas Wiser returned to I.ewiston I.ew-iston last week after spending a couple of months with her sister at Shelley, Idaho. Mrs. Lcttic Hendricks of Oxford, Idaho presented her husband with a fine baby boy Saturday evening. Mrs. Hendricks is at I.ewiston visiting visit-ing with her mother Mrs. Baird. Mr. and Mrs. Ncphi Rogers had quite an exciting time at I.ogan Friday. They had taken an eight year boy to I.ogan to be baptised and while shopping aftcrwaids bec.mc separated from him. A thorough search of Logan City and fields was made, telephone calls to outside towns and the child was located at Wcllsvillc where he had walked and was thoroughly exhausted from the walk and hunger. An automobile was sent out from I.ogan and the child brought to his parents. |
